The Shark and the Fish
Shorashim’s Club Israel introduced the first, second, and third grades of the Temple Chai (Long Grove) Religious School to Gilad Shalit’s children’s story When the Shark and the Fish First Met. Shalit, who was abducted by Hamas and is being held prisoner in Gaza, wrote the story about coexistence when he was 11 years old.
The students read the book until just before the end, then were asked to write and illustrate a final page. Here are some of the results:

There were many great stories and drawings - these are only a few! The three most creative entries will be honored with a $100 contribution to a newly opened Send-a-Kid-to-Israel Partnership (SKIP) account.
Parents of the students learned more about Gilad Shalit through a a letter from Gilad’s parents Aviva and Noam Shalit.
